| As we grow older, we suffer major
declines in the hormones we need to stay healthy. One of the
most important is growth hormone (GH)—often called human
growth hormone (hGH) to distinguish it from animal-derived
products.48,49
Growth hormone injections
The most effective way of boosting GH blood levels is
regular injections. While the cost of synthetic GH
injections is very high, it is now available from various
doctors in North America. For information about how to
locate a doctor in your area, please call our Life Extension
advisor line toll-free at 1-800-226-2370.
Amino acids
It has been shown that while the aging pituitary adequately
produces GH, its secretion from the pituitary is
down-regulated with age.49
Certain amino acids and vitamins have been shown to help
maintain a healthy pituitary.* These amino acids include:
- L-Arginine51
- L-Lysine52
- L-Glutamine53
- L-Ornithine51
- Glycine54,55
There are special formulas for day and
night consumption, a comprehensive formula that includes
every nutrient mentioned in Grow Young with HGH,
and single nutrients such as L-glutamine,53
L-arginine, and L-ornithine.
GH release may be improved if one to three
grams of choline and up to two grams of pantothenic acid are
taken at the same time as amino acid releasers. Both serve
as precursors to the brain’s main neurotransmitter
acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is known to help maintain a
healthy production of somatostatin.58
The product Choline Cooler described in
the Durk & Sandy products section contains both choline and
pantothenic acid and is appropriate for this purpose.
Related products include the individual
amino acids in the Amino Acids section, and the Powermaker
II® formula in the Durk & Sandy products section.
Daytime Growth Hormone Formula contains L-ornithine
as well as amino acid L-tyrosine. This combination may be
ideal to take before exercise. |

| Caution |
| If you are diabetic, have high blood
pressure, or have been diagnosed with cancer consult a
healthcare practitioner before using this product. Persons
who have not completed their bone growth (children and
teenagers), and pregnant or lactating women, should not use
GH releasers except under a physician's supervision. L-arginine
and L-ornithine sometimes reactivate latent herpes virus
infections. Therefore, persons who have had ocular or brain
herpes should not use them. Those with certain psychoses may
experience worsened symptoms if they take L-arginine or L-ornithine
supplements. |
